Chinese Education VS Western Education

University of Bristol
As a Chinese student, I knew that studying in China was really really different, especially the fundamental education. Chinese education system was like, students must accept the nine years compulsory education, it met that primary school needed six years and junior high school needed three years. After these nine years, most students wanted to go to the tertiary educational institutes, so they have to continue the senior high school to study for three years. When they finished these three years study, they could go to uni to study, however, it was not easy. The examination of entrance university would be coming, which was a very very different exam. Students should study extremely hard so that they could go to their ideal university. So, every 7 and 8 of July, it was the most important two days in students' life, because the exam held in this time. If they could get high marks they would be offered by a good uni, or they could be offered by any uni. I heard that every year many many studnets were dissappoint.

In Western countries, I was not sure what the educational system looked like, but I could feel the tertiary education was very developed. From last October till present, I have been studying at Australia, I thought that in the class students must participate rather than only tutors talking. In addition, students had many leisure to self-study and when they did their assignments, they had to find the reference, this was completely different from Chinese education. In chinese class, teachers were always talking and talking and they would give the key points to let them memorize these points. It had never appear in Western class. So, just in my opinion, Western style could make studnents' ability in many aspects, such as self-study, independent, and researching skills.

However, I did not want to deny that Chinese basic education was the best, because in primary and high school, we studied more different mathematics than Western, not only math but also we had many readings like ancient poems, many writings and so on. Based on the analysis above, I have got a conclusion, which was that studying the basic education in China and accepted the tertiary education in Western country. That would be perfact...haha...
