Critique of A Blog

I have chosen a blog that had been created by a journalist, which the content is about the Iraqi war. I am going to introduce this special blog, because this blog is about politics, it's the real voice from that eventful place. it can be linked here:http://riverbendblog.blogspot.com/ , I knew this blog from class Communication Environment 3.

Obviously, Internet is a good place to express people's opinions, whatever they want to say. So, for journalists, blog is a new format to speak their political ideas. The author of this blog is a female journalist, who is living in Iraq, so the name of her blog is call Baghdad Burning.
According to the critiques, the content of her blog is the most important thing. She had posted in 2003, all posts of her blog are about Iraq, which is a country fighting with the United States and have a lot of disease. Her blog is like a dairy format, it recorded all her pieces of her life. For instance, there is a post called Leaving Home, which recorded every pieces of life before she left home, for instance, how she picked up her stuff. In addition, her analysis of war affairs was in details and she often gives some her opinions, which could reflect her real ideas. For example, her description of how they cross the Iraq boarder, she described both their facial emotion, and in her heart she was so nervous, so that she did not see those soldiers. Every detail was described very clearly. Another post of her is called The rape of Sabrina, which was exploring some things that are hidden. There is an Iraqi girl who was raped by security forces. Actually those people who are to against US president. After raping, this raped girl became the bravest girl in Iraq, because she used her real name to tell her story, however, this girl thought that it was her shame, when she told her story, she covered her face. From her j-blog, it can be seen clearly that online audiences can read a blog with real political ideas and they will know more truth that sometimes will be hidden. Meanwhile, her j-blog is not influenced by the gatekeeping theory too much; she can free to publish her political points. Furthermore from her blog, readers can link other media's websites, such as BBC news, NY times, etc.

In conclusion, I like this blog so much, I an also touched by this blog, I thought that as a girl, she was living and working in a eventful place, it means she is so brave, every body knows that Iraq is not a safety place to stay, but she knows she is a journalist, and her responsibility is to report the real story to public and make readers know the truth. This girl spoke their real point of views of politics, she brought our to reality, and made me know lots more stories that we couldn't know from the mainstream media.

Last Post?

No, this won't be my last post, although this semester will come to an end. From this May, I started my first English blog on My Space, which is also my first blog, before I'd never had a blog, even Chinese one. Why did I decide to create a blog? Because once, a friend of mine asked me, have you got a blog, cos I want to have a look. I answered, sorry I haven't got one. After that, I decided to create one. Now, the e-blog is my second blog, but this one is like homework, hahaha.... I still pay more attention to it.

I don't think this is my last blog on this blog, cos this is the only one blog that share with all my dear classmates, this blog is like a "clue", I can contact with them, may be someday, we seperate, we can see each other's blog and have a look what's going on. So, I hope all classmates keep posting. Now, I am listening to What's going on while posting.

This morning was a peak hour for us, cos last night most of us didn't sleep. The main reason was we haven't finished the last big essay, which was 2000 words, wow... this was our first time to wrte many words. Most of us finished this essay at this morning, I finished at 4.00am. Actually, last night, suddenly, one opera song appeared in my mind, Messun Dorma! Yes, this one, I think it's sooooooooooo suiting our situation, so on my MSN mood box, I typed it! In opera Turandot, the princess can't fall asleep for some reasons, however, we can't sleep because of essay, hahaha...

Last week of this semester!

This week is week 13, which is the last week of this semester. It means, after this week, the holiday will be coming. For us, it means we will be far away from assignment temporarily. For myself, I will be going home on Saturday morning. What a wonderful thing!!! I think this semester is better, cos we tried some new areas of Communication, the most interesting thing is the podcast, cos although I've got an iPod, actually I didn't know what podcast is and didn't know how to listen to podcast. However, in class COMM315, I understood podcast and learnt some theory of sound, actually, I thought sound is really wonderful. I knew the highest and lowest sound that human beings can hear, from 20 to 20khz. I also learnt how to make a podcast in Garage band, it's soooooooo interesting, I wish I had a Mac and do it at any time, haha.

Another interesting thing should be the film making in class COMM 31 6. This is my first time to operate a video camera, before I thought it's difficult to use and it's so magic, but when I studied the professional words and knew the basic knowledge, any difficulties disappeared, cos I thought it's not difficult. Our group took a five minutes about Magic Power, this experience is very important for me and it's unforgettable. Like Julia saying, studying Communication can have lots of fun, I must admit.

Now, at the moment, I haven't yet finished an assignment about blogger and politics, which is so boring, but I have to do it, I think my motivation is going home, so I will overcome any troubles. Only one more week, I can go home, I am soooooooooo happy, I will my parents and friends so much, I often dream them. Next Sunday, I will arrive at my lovely home, suddenly, I remembered one movie called Sweet Home Alabama, I think this move can reflect my emotion.

No pains, No gains!!!

Our film shooting had already finished. I rally really appreciated that I had got lovely classmates, because we worked so hard, both director and crews. Thanks everyone! Through this experience, I knew that film making is really hard work. Before, I didn't know how a film was made, such as the transcript, shooting angles, time code light etc, I just knew that this was a wonderful movie, which had got a good story, fantastic shooting skills and excellent actors. From our movie making, a great movie was made by a great team work and crews. The more you well prepared, the better the film is. Our film was only five minutes, but it took us a long to prepare it.

In addition, I used to admire the Hollywood superstars, like Tom Cruse, Mag Ryan... I like their style and their films. Actually, they worked so hard as well, they must follow the director, sometimes, only one scene needed shoot several times. Trough their efforts, they could get their status today, they could get the Oscar Award. So, I really got that no pains no gains.

I thought in our study life, the we must to make effort and we can be successful. There was no trouble bridges that we could not cross. When you felt like hope was gone, please did not give up, hold on hold on and hold on. Please remember, No pains No gains!

Here are some pics of our group

Shooting

Yesterday, our group (Aileen, Arya, Jin, Sujin and I) had been to Jin's sister's house to shoot our short film-Magic Power. Actually, this idea was Jin's, so she was our derictor. Sujin was the model, Aileen was presenter, I was the cameraman. Arya was our VIP, because our another member Hitomi was sick, she was absent, and Arya did her job and help me lots. So, say thank you to Arya again here.

At 11.00am, we were on the train to Lidcombe. When we had arrived there, the time was for lunch, everybody was hungry, so we had lunch first. Jin's sister was so kind, she prepared many sushi and donuts for us, we were so touched. These food were so yummy. Thank you Jin and Jin's sister. After lunch, we setted up our camera, Jin's sister prepared the stuff for make-up. Then, shooting started. First part, Aileen needed to introduce the make-up steps, we used different angles, such as MLS, MS, MCU ect. Next, our camera would focus on Sujin's face, because she was model and Jin's sister was making up her face, we chose the CU and ECU. When we finished the first part, we turned to the hair salon to do Sujin's hair.

We setted up camera at hair salon again. We needed Aileen to suggest Sujin to change her hair style, so shot the ourside sence first, and then shot the inside part. The hair designer was very kind to us, he did Sujin's hair very beautiful and elegant, now I knew the Magic Power. He was also patient to us, cos we couldn't shot once, sometimes we had to shot twice and to get the best one. After the inside part, we went our again, because we forgot one important thing, which was that we forgot to shoot the inteview part. Sujin had to washed her face and changed her previous hair style. What a pity, she couldn't keep this style for a longer time. When we finished the last section, everybody was laughting. We were so happy because we just used 22 minutes.

After one day's shooting, I felt so tired, same as other crews. All of us were working hard. Really appreciate these nice classmates, without them, the film couldn't be shot. Now, I knew how important team spirit is! Thanks everyone.

Library!

Now, I am studying at our uni's library, I am writing this post at here at the moment. This is my first time to study at library on Saturday, I feel so good. Because I can't concentrate on study at home, I chose study at here. I thought that studying at library is good for me, here are heaps of books, I can search reference books at any time, it's quite convenient. In addition, I was surrounded by a good studying atmosphere, when I felt so tired and couldn't concentrate on my study, I had a look at other students, I would continue my study. So, it's very good for me. I have already decided, tomorrow I was sure I would come here again.

Before I came Sydney, I had been to Tian Jin University once, which was a excellence university with more that 100 years history. I've got a good friend who had been studying at this uni. She had borrowed another student's card for me, so I could go to library. The first impression that library gave to me. which was so great. Because I'd never been to a university's library, at that moment, I was full of curiosity, the book shelves was stand there one by one, and they were filled with books. each corridor was broad rather than narrow, it's very comfortable. on the two sides of corridor, there were some tables and chairs for students reading. My mind had reflected a idea immideitly, I must go to university as soon as possible. And now, I am sitting down here.

I used to image that what some famous universities' library look like, such as Harvard, Oxford and Cambridge. I thought that they must be great and wonderful, I couldn't find any other appropriate words to describe these libraries. I also imaged that some day I had a chance to study at these libraries, it's not a dream, if only I did study hard, it would be true. I love library!

I miss you!

Today, I had got a really bad new, cos one of our tutors, whose his wife had got the serious sickness. I am really really sorry to hear about that. I knew how sad when your family or relatives were sick. I wish this lady will recover as soon as possible. There can be miracle when you believe.

I also had this sad feeling. Between June, 2005 and May, 2006, three relatives had passy by. How sad!!! First person is my aunty, when I heard this startling, I was shocked, cos this was my first time to hear a person who dead when I grew up. Although I was an adult, I was still scared. Last May, my grandpa had passed away. Because he was a christian, his funeral had been held by a christain style, there was not fire works and buring the paper, which were the tradiditional style. Nothing was here but flowers. A churchman had been to here and pray for him. I like this style very much, cos it's very quite, which was a kind of respect to dead people. I will say to all the living people, please please forgot sadness and be happy, cos your family don't want to see you sad.

Ok, anyway, keep this missing in the bottom of your heart. Here is a song Slipped Away by Avril Lavigne for the person who we are missing.

Slipped Away

I miss you, I miss you so bad
I don't forget you, oh it's so sad
I hope you can hear me
I remember it clearly

The day you slipped away
Was the day I found
It won't be the same

I didn't get around to kiss you
Goodbye on the hand
I wish that I could see you again
I know that I can't
I hope you can here me
I remember it clearly

I've had my wake up
Won't you wake up
I keep asking why
I can't take it
It wasn't fake
It heppened you passed by

Now you're gone, now you're gone
There you go, there you go
Somewhere I can't bring you back
Now you're gone, now you're gone
There you go, there you go
Somewhere you're not coming back

I MISS YOU

Feeling complicated!

Recently, I felt so complicated, especially after moving. When I was home alone (I men the landlord's gone to work), I felt so weird, in the morning was ok, cos I had afternoon class and I got up late, I didn't have to stay at home for a long time. However, if I got morning class, I didn't want to go back home in the afternoon, this Tuesday and today (Thrusday), I still stayed at school. I brought lunch box, fruit and enought water, stay there. I told my classmates I would had lunch at school, and then I would go to library to search books, actually this was the reason why I brought lunch. But, the main reason was that I didn't want to go this so-called "home" any more. Previously, after class, the first thing that I really wanted to do, was going home, but this time, this feeling was dissapeared. I thought that I still had lunch and study at school in the next few weeks. Now, I hoped that time could go as fast as possible, after this semester, I would go home, which was the real home in China.

When I was young, I really loved to watch an American sitcom Growning Pains, I still remembered clearly that both presents and children had pains, but this sitcom just used the comedy to illustrate this pains and made audiences laught. Now it's my turn, I could understand when people grew they would had pains, no matter it's the big trouble or a small piece. To be honest, I was distrubing by something, such as study, the relationship between other people... I really hoped this world could be easy rather than complex, so that we could alive relaxed. sigh... I wanna go home. I would forget Sydney temporary and when I came back with a good mood, there was no bored no frustrating.
Does "angel" have pains???

Winnie's Birthday Party

Wow, this was my seconde tome to join my classmate's birthday, first time I had been to Bloz's birthday, this time, 4 August was Winnie's birthday. This day, we decided to meet each other at 7.oopm o'clock, but some of us came early, who were some special guest. So, they visited Bloz's home, me too. And then, we went to a Hong Kong restaurant for dinner. Those Hong Kong guys's menu was fantastic, we ate roast duck, I just knew this course's name and never knew others' names due to my poor memory. These courses were really really deliiiiiiiiiiicious, I love them!!! During the dinner, we talked to each other, although we were classmates, and we could see each other at class, we still have many topics to talk. Because, today was no homework, no Marxism, no Semiotics, we talked and laughted. After the main courses, waitor brought the birthday cake, they lighted the candle(only one), and Winnie burned out it, we sung the birthday song for her:" happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday to Winnie, happy birthday...." At that moment, everybody was overwhelmed with happiness.

here are some pics from that day:

September Going Home

Wow...today I had reserved a ticket already, it meant that I could go home after this semester in September. I was sooooooooo happy=p. I had been linving in Sydney for almost one year, I missed my parents and friends and classmates so much, sometimes I could dream them. I still remembered the first day when I had arrived at here, everything was so strange for me and many stranger surrounded me. I felt so complicated, because a new place made me fresh while far away from family and friends made me feel lonely.

Let me tell you an very interesting and stupid thing about me. The fifth day when I came here, it was a Tuesday, which was the first day for English Course. I was later for about 15 minutes. why???? Because a new friend of mine and I took the same train to school, and we just concentrated on talking and none of us concerned we would get off train at Central Station, we got off the train at Town Hall station and transfered another train got back to Central station. As a result, we both late. When I got my classroom, I felt so so frustrated, because I thought that going to school late was a very damn thing, I would leave teacher a very bad impression. I explained this situation, I told him that I just came here for five days and I got off train at a wrong station, and he said:" ok, it doesn't matter, so tomorrow you are not new student any more." This teacher was very humorous, but he was right, the next day, I was not a new student any more, so there was no reason to late.

However, although I was late, I had another unforgetable thing, which was that I saw the Sydney Opera House and Harbor Bridge at circular quay, when my friend and I were on the way back to central station. Before I saw these theme buildings just on television, but this time I saw the real one, I was so excited. They were so great and so beautiful. I was like a child laughting. haha.... I told this experience to my parents and Chinese friends, they told me that don't be late next time and concentrate on the train, don't make mistakes any more.

Film Making, cool~~~

This morning, we have got a course of Communication Shills, we studied the film making, just a short film. Wow~~~~, it was really really fantastic, this was my first time to shoot. Actually, last week our tutor Julia had tutoued us some basic skills, this week we continued to familia the camera. I really really thought that to be an actor was really hard, because this week I was an actor in our shot film, which had been shot again and again..... according to my calculation, I played about ten times, oh my God, if a professional actor who would play a formal movie, I could imagen that, really really hard. The most important thing I felt, which was actors had to listen to the directors. During the shooting, I always stop acting and saw the camera, and then asked:" can I stop??" And Julia said that I had to listen to the director (Jin is our director). So, I could not stop until the director saying stop, poor me=[ But anyway, all of us thought that filming making was interesting and enjoyable. The main reason led to we had to shoot again was that our camera did not in a suitable position, so we shot and shot. Now, I have got it. We just saw that super stars were brilliant, but no one knew that they had to pay their efforts. Meanwhile, the directors were also a hard job, because they had to consider the whole scenary and lighting and everything. Every time we went to cinema, just appreciated the excellence movie and never knew how they had been made. Through this class I knew the basic knowledge of film making. What a wonderful movie world!!!

Chinese Education VS Western Education

University of Bristol
As a Chinese student, I knew that studying in China was really really different, especially the fundamental education. Chinese education system was like, students must accept the nine years compulsory education, it met that primary school needed six years and junior high school needed three years. After these nine years, most students wanted to go to the tertiary educational institutes, so they have to continue the senior high school to study for three years. When they finished these three years study, they could go to uni to study, however, it was not easy. The examination of entrance university would be coming, which was a very very different exam. Students should study extremely hard so that they could go to their ideal university. So, every 7 and 8 of July, it was the most important two days in students' life, because the exam held in this time. If they could get high marks they would be offered by a good uni, or they could be offered by any uni. I heard that every year many many studnets were dissappoint.

In Western countries, I was not sure what the educational system looked like, but I could feel the tertiary education was very developed. From last October till present, I have been studying at Australia, I thought that in the class students must participate rather than only tutors talking. In addition, students had many leisure to self-study and when they did their assignments, they had to find the reference, this was completely different from Chinese education. In chinese class, teachers were always talking and talking and they would give the key points to let them memorize these points. It had never appear in Western class. So, just in my opinion, Western style could make studnents' ability in many aspects, such as self-study, independent, and researching skills.

However, I did not want to deny that Chinese basic education was the best, because in primary and high school, we studied more different mathematics than Western, not only math but also we had many readings like ancient poems, many writings and so on. Based on the analysis above, I have got a conclusion, which was that studying the basic education in China and accepted the tertiary education in Western country. That would be perfact...haha...

Thank you!

Wow, time goes so quickly, I have been living in Sydney for almost one year. Now, I really really want to say:" thank you!" I want to say thank you to my parents (see this pic), because without them, I can not study here, they pay my tuition fees and living expensive. Yes, I know that they work so hard every day, especially my dad, he is supporting me and the whole family, my mom is also the money maker, although her wage is not too much. They give me sopporting both finacial and mental, because I feel not good, I have problems with some pieces, they are always be there. I miss them every day, I live with my presents for 22 years. Otherwise, I want to say thank you to my domestic freinds, although we can not see each, we often contact with each other by email, and some chatting tools, they are far away from me, but I can feel their concerns. I am so glad that I found many many nice friends and lovely classmates in Sydney, in a strange city, they do not make feel that I am lonely. So, I really really appreciate it. There are two song that can express my emotion, one is Thank God I Found You by Maria Carry, another one is Thank You by Dido, I am overwhelmed with gratitude, thank you!!!

My home town Tian Jin

Wow, today was a really really windy day, I must admit that I really really did not like windy days, because the sands would be in my eyes, this scene made me retrieve my home town Tian Jin. Ok, let me introduce my home town and you can know it more.

Tian jin, a coast city, which is one of the four municipal cities in China with about ten million population. It is located at northern China and very close to the capitl city Beijing. Tian Jin is in temperate zone and belongs kind of monsoon climate, so in summer it is very hot, the highest temperature is 37 degrees and in winter is very cold, the lowest temperature is below zero, about -10 at night. Tian Jin is a city combined ancient and modern. It has got a history about six hundren years, meanwhile, it is an international city. In city center, it is funioush and you can see the neon everywhere, all streets and rodes are brighter even at night. The economy of Tian jin is also develop, the GDP has been increasing every year. In addition, I would like to introduce the landscopes of Tian Jin, although here are no too many landscopes, each landscope is classical. The Huang Ya Guan Great Wall and Pan Shang Mountain are in suburb areas, but the transportation is conveinent, so tourists can easily get there. Another landmark is called Shi Family Mansion, which is a private garden, it is extremely beautiful, it is worth to visit. Now, let me show you some famous snacks to you, these snacks are unique, you can eat them in Tian Jin only. First, Gao Bu Li Bao Zi(steamed filled buns), is delicious. Especially, the skills of how to make this is a secret, nobody knows how to make the stuff. Second, Shi Ba Jie Ma Hua(fried dough twist)...yummy!!!!!! Ok, talking too much, it is time to show you a picture of Tian Jin.

Hong Kong was returned to China 10th anniversary

Today is 1st of July, 2007, which is the day Hong kong was returned to China ten years. Chinese president Hu Jintao had been to Hong Kong to join this ceremony. Mr hu also met the chief executive Mr Tsang and talked about Hong Kong's development druing these ten years.

As a Chinese people, I was so proud of that. Althought about 150 years ago, because of the weakness of the last feudal dynasty, Qing Danasty, which had to divided HK, our territory to UK, recently, China has been developing, it will become one of the most developed countries in the world. So, it can be seen clearly, in 1997, Hong Kong was returned to China. Till 2007, ten years later, all the people can see that the development of Hong Kong is more and more flourish with One-country Two-policy.

At last, I wish that our motherland became more and more develop.

I love sport!

I just had been to gym to do exercise, I would like to join any kind of sport games, such as badminton, tennies and swimming(swimmming pool only). I thought that to do exercise is good for health and made me stronger both phisical and psychological, because joining sport could strengthen my willing stronger, if when I was in troubles, I could get rid of troubles, that was my purpose to join sports.

In north semisphere, it is summer now, a fantastic sport convention has been holding-Wimbledon Open. Wow...it was very good, there were many many famous tennies players who I like, they are Roger Federer, Marat Safin, Nadal and Maria sharapova... I wish that they could achieve the championship title, which every tennies players wanted. However, there just be only one winner, so who would be lucky, who could get that. Acturally, just relay on lucky that was not enough, athletes had to make efforts to their sport career, and then they could get what they want. As a result, 99%hardworking+1%lucky=champion

Hi, everybody!!! If only you did your best, you could get achievements.
